Mentally unstable man climbs goods train, touches high tension line; critical

A man said to be mentally unsound, sustained serious burn injuries after he touched a high tension wire which was passing over a stationary goods train on Habibganj Railway Station on Friday.

The incident took place on Friday at around 3:30 pm when the victim, whose identity could not be established till now climbed atop the train parked between on the railway station.
However, workers of a private company who are working for development of the station heard his shriek and informed police.

GRP Habibganj then ensured to rush him an ambulance with the help of those workers.
The incharge of Habibganj GRP, B L Sen, when contacted, said that victim’s identity could not be established but he said that he was a mentally unstable man and would frequently roam here. The goods train took a halt in between platforms number 3 and 4 where he reached and went atop of the goods train and before anyone could notice him, he willingly touched the wire and after the sparking he was thrown off from the train, he said.
The man had sustained serious burn injuries in his hands, legs and chest. We have immediately called an ambulance and rushed him to Hamidia Hospital where he is undergoing treatment, he added.
