Workshop on Scaling of Child Protection programme held

Day-long workshop on ‘Scaling of Child Protection Programme in Chhattisgarh’ was organized today at a conference hall in Civil Lines Raipur, under the joint aegis of Chhattisgarh Police (Crime Investigation Department) and UNICEF.

In his address to the programme Deputy Inspector General of Police T R Paikra said that children are considered as the best gift of humanity to the society. Innocence, vulnerability and sensitiveness of children make them dear to everyone in society. For all-round development of children, it is extremely important to ensure they are nurtured with care, security and healthy environment. Children are future of the nation. Hence working for protection of children and their rights is equivalent to serving God.

In Chhattisgarh, Police has taken a new initiative in association with UNICEF, which is being appreciated at national-level. Legal provisions have been made for protection of Child Rights, in coordination with Police Department, Education Department, Health Department, Women and Child Development Department. District Police Mahasamund has taken a commendable initiative to start child-friendly police station, on the lines of which Chhattisgarh Police working towards making child-friendly police stations in every district.

Railway Superintendent of Police Parul Mathur said that Railway Police remains alert and keep vigilance in cases like security and trafficking and makes every possible effort to prevent such crimes. Police is conducting ‘Chetna Programme’ to create awareness among parents, children and educational institutions. AIG Sujeet Kumar, Secretary State Child Rights Protection Commission Nandlal Choudhary, Jeevak Chatterjee of UNICEF, Gargi Saha also addressed the workshop and informed the police officials about various technical aspects of human trafficking and existing laws to prevent the same.
