AFRC slaps notice on 38 pvt colleges

Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) has slapped notice on 38 colleges for the fee issue with students. The notice has been issued to the colleges for pressurising students to submit fee after completing the degrees.The committee has also contacted complainant students regarding the issue. Accused colleges have also started replying to the committee. AFRC has received the answer of about a dozen colleges regarding the complaint. Students said they have completed the degree, but college managements are still showing their fee pending. According to sources, many colleges attracted the students for admission at discounted rate.

According to sources, while starting admission for 2017-18, many engineering, MBA and professional courses colleges lured students for admission on seats at discounted rate. Students also submitted the discounted amount to the college. When these students completed their degrees, college management denied rewarding the degree. They asked students to submit the entire amount as per fee regulation by AFRC.College managements said, AFRC has regulated the fee of all institutes and students have to pay as per the directions. Students alleged that colleges are also demanding bus fare along with the tuition fee. Students have filed online complaint to the AFRC regarding fee issues. However, committee has solved about two dozen complaints after discussion with the complainant and accused.

AFRC officials said they are targetting zero complaints and trying to solve all issues immediately. Notably, AFRC has started online complaint portal, where students can file their grievances. The committee has tightened the noose around all private colleges and asked to solve the complaints of students immediately.
