DEO Chawre seeks report on sudden death of student

Pranshi Gupta, the scout-guide from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Vaishali Nagar Bhilai died of cardiac ailment at the ongoing Jamboree Scout-Guide Camp in Somni, Rajnandgaon on Friday noon. She was suffering from serious cardiac ailment (Septal Defect). The congress activists alleged school administration for being insensitive and demanded thorough probe in the matter.

The authorities from District Education Department have already sought detailed report on the tragic incident. According to information on Friday morning, Pranshi Gupta (15), daughter of Subhash Gupta, a resident of Vaishali Nagar, Bhilai along with her school students and teachers proceeded for participating in the Scout-Guide Jamboree Camp, being held at Somni in Rajnandgaon. At about 12:00 PM on Friday, all of a sudden Pranshi Gupta fell on the ground and went unconscious. However, Pranshi Gupta was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital in the village, where she was pronounced as brought dead on arrival. The camp administration immediately brought the matter to the notice of Pranshi’s parents, whom the body was handed over following the mandatory legal procedure in presence of the competent magistrate.

While talking to the mediapersons Subhash Gupta informed that his daughter was bent upon for attending the camp and they could not resist her despite the serious ailment she was suffering from. However, he regretted the decision of school administration to allow her for attending the camp. District Education Officer (Durg), Ashutosh Chawre informed that the authorities concerned from the camp administration and the school were already directed for submitting detailed report of the incident and on basis of report the action in the tragic incident would be initiated. He added that in spite of serious cardiac ailment, Pranshi Gupta was beaming with life and she was regularly attending school while completing assignments. However, she was prohibited for actively participating in any exerting competition. She was absolutely normal prior to the incident.

Pankaj Gaur, president, Pradesh Rajiv Congress Committee pressed demands for probe in the matter and stern action against the authorities from school and education department for allowing the seriously ailing student to attend the camp. He along with the several party activists also staged demonstration and denounced the authorities concerned for the tragic incident.
