Police beef up security ahead of New Year

POLICE launched the intensive vehicle checking drive and spruced up security arrangements ahead of New Year celebrations in twin city of Bhilai and Durg. In the specially launched vehicle checking drive at all prime locations in the twin city ahead of New Year celebration on Saturday, the police challaned as many as 43 two-wheeler riders for flouting traffic regulations.

Besides, the police have made elaborate security arrangements on New Year eve to ensure apt abidance of law and order during the celebration and also to meet with any eventuality effectively. The police have specifically appealed the populace from the twin city for celebrating New Year in peaceful and amiable atmosphere while avoiding indulging in violence or any antisocial activities posing threat to other citizens while impairing law and order situation.

While apprising about the security arrangements on New Year eve, ASP (City), Shashimohan Singh informed that over 450 police officials and personnel would maintain round the clock vigil during New Year celebration to ward off any eventuality. The police have already pressed into service the patrolling parties and Anti-demonstration (AD) squads for maintaining law and order on eve of New Year. The gazetted rank police officials would monitor closely all developments in their respective jurisdiction during New Year celebrations. The additional traffic police teams would be deputized for ensuring smooth vehicular movements at all main roads.

While extending New Year greetings in advance, ASP (City), Shashimohan Singh appealed the populace to extend all possible cooperation to police for maintaining peace and harmony through out the twin cities during the New Year celebration and also to pass information to police immediately in case of any unwarranted and doubtful development posing threat to peace.
