Distt Hospital sanitation staffers on strike

Mismanagement of affairs reigned supreme at District Hospital after sanitation employees went on strike demanding attention towards their demands. The strike call given by sanitation employees has crippled cleanliness in the District Hospital. Sanitation employees from other community health centres and government hospitals also joined the strike making the situation even worse. The sanitation employees at the district hospital and other CHCs and hospitals have accused the sanitation contractor of exploiting employees who work on contractual basis.


According to information, cleanliness at District Hospital and other CHCs and government hospitals in the district have suffered a setback after sanitation employees working for the Health Department on contractual basis have proceeded on strike on Sunday. The strike staged by sanitation employees has crippled the cleanliness in hospitals.


The demands include taking back of employees who were terminated, deposit of PF fund of employees, giving wages fixed as per the Collectorate rate, and to make available bleaching power, clothes, protective devices and other goods for those working in hospitals. The sanitation contractor has been accused of indulging in gross exploitation of sanitation employees in district hospital, community health centres and other government hospitals under the Health Department. The striking employees gathered at Pushkarni Park and raised slogans against the contractor and administration for ignoring the demand of sanitation employees.
