Nurses continue gate meetings at Government hospital premises

STATE’S nurses and contractual health workers on Saturday held gate meetings and demonstrations in premises of the Government hospitals including those hospitals under the Government medical colleges in different parts of the State to garner support over the strike from February 13. Health and Medical Education Employees Association has called on the strike in support of several demands pending for the last many years.
There are around 70,000 health employees including regular and contractual health workers who will be on strike from February 13 as per their notice to the Government.The nurses and other contractual health staff is also in mood to fight a long battle with the Government over its apathy towards their demands. Contractual health workers are protesting assessment of their service by inter-division officers.
“Surendra Singh Kaurav, State President of Health and Medical Education Employees Association said no to Government Officer who has turned up to talks to the association functionaries over the demands. It will be a State-wide strike. So our strike will be held on the scheduled date.Nurses and other health employees are holding gate meetings and demonstrations in the premises of their hospitals,”
