Chitnis thanks CM for giving ‘Kalyani’ word to widows

Women and Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis has thanked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for giving word ‘Kalyani’ to widows. “It was on International Women’s Day function that I requested CM to give a respectable word to widows. I made request in afternoon and in evening came to know that CM ordered that ‘Kalyani’ word should be used in place of widow in all Government documents, Chitnis said in a press conference. She said that when husband of any woman passes away then she is under a lot of pressure and faces various kinds of odds in life. The word widow shatters her morale. But CM had accepted the request to use ‘Kalyani’ word in place of widow and this is going to boost the inner power of those women who have lost their husbands untimely. She also reckoned various steps taken by her department for women empowerment. She said that on Thursday itself, a fair was organised in State capital for women so that they could even get jobs in private sector and response is overwhelming.
Likewise, Anand Mela’s will be organised in every district. Through the help of health department, anaemia will be checked among women and girls.
Besides, she is also concerned about the alcohol addiction prevailing in society. She is going to urge women to take promise on Rakshabandhan from their brothers that they should give promise to shun the bad habit of addiction as this will help in creation of a better society. Along with this, her department is also going to make girls skilled so that they could get jobs easily. There is also plan to organise ‘Shakti Sangam’ in every district for the empowerment of women.
