Raipur tops crime chart in C’garh

Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra informed in the House that during the period January 1, 2016 till December 31, 2016, a whooping 23,218 cases were registered in the State against heinous crimes like murder, rape, abduction, dacoity, theft and that of missing persons. Capital Raipur topped the scale with total number of 3,823 cases pertaining to these crimes.
Capital Raipur also had the discredit as it registered highest number of rape cases in the state numbering at 175 during this period. Congress Legislator Motilal Dewangan through his un-starred question asked the Home Minister as to how many cases of murder, rape, abduction, dacoity, theft and missing persons were registered in the state during the period January 1, 2016 till December 31, 2016.


How many cases were disposed off and how many cases were pending.
Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra in his written reply informed the House that during the period in question total 23218 cases including 960 cases of murder, 1658 cases of rape, 2,060 cases of abduction, 60 cases of dacoity, 8,658 cases of theft and 9,822 cases of missing persons were registered in State. In capital Raipur, during this period, 58 cases of murder, 175 cases of rape, 297 cases of abduction, 6 cases of dacoity, 1586 cases of theft and 1,701 cases of missing persons were registered.


The Home Minister also informed that of the cases registered, 18,564 cases have been disposed off and 4654 cases are pending.
