MANIT students stage protest against lack of facilities

Over 1,500 students of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) staged protest against mismanagement in institute campus.
Students demanded to improve the roads inside campus, installation of street light, drive off the wild animals including pig, dog, snakes etc from campus and primary facilities to the students like drinking water, xerox machine, salon, general store, library, internet etc. Students said that they do not have proper beds in hostel rooms.
They said, institute has provided cot in hostel rooms which cause backache. There is lack of electricity, dilapidated hostel building, sports material. Demonstrating students said instead of providing fund for extra curriculum activities to the student, management is busy in corruption and scandals.
However, it not new issues for MANIT, as students are demonstrating for lack of facilities for past three years. Hostel inmates have staged several protests for primary facilities but institute management failed to listen their grievances. MPHRC has already issued notice to MANIT for providing basic facilities to the hostel inmate.
Students said they do not have bed to sleep, proper electricity, drinking water and cleanliness in campus. Hostellers said poor quality of food is being delivered to the students. Students are not able to avail library facility, internet Wi-Fi and other moderated technology which is essential for the budding engineers.
According to MANIT students, after demonstrating for lack of facilities, institute management withdrew circular of banning motorised vehicle in campus. However demonstration was staged in silent way and there were no violence created by demonstrators.
