Traffic cops book over 900 drunk drivers during Holi

TRAFFIC Police booked over 900 drunk drivers, besides initiating action against 542 persons for rash driving, during Holi festival. Cops detained hundreds of vehicles, including two-wheelers, after initiating action against drivers for violating traffic rules.
On Sunday and Monday, cops registered cases against 906 persons for driving vehicles under the influence of liquor. Similarly, police booked 542 persons for rash driving and detained hundreds of vehicles.
City Police claimed that no untoward incident took place during ‘Holi’ and ‘ Dhulivandan’ because of tight security. Barricades were erected on almost each and every road during the special drive against drunk drivers.
Five Deputy Commissioners of Police, 10 Assistant Commissioners of Police, Inspectors of all 29 police stations, 187 Sub-Inspectors, 1385 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, Naik Constables, Constables, including 223 women police personnel, 583 Home Guards, two companies of State Reserve Police Force, and five reserved squads were deployed in the ‘bandobast.’
