Cotton worth Rs 5 cr gutted in Arvi

A sudden fire broke out at Sri Ganesh Natural Fibers Company on Pulgaon road in the wee hours of Wednesday and 2,000 cotton bales and 6,000 quintal cotton total worth Rs 5 crore was reduced to ashes. A short- circuit is said to have caused the inferno. It took the fire extinguishers 9 hours to douse the fire.
As per information available, the process of ginning and pressing was going on at Sri Ganesh Company at Arvi in Wardha district in the night shift on Tuesday. Employees Shyamlal Godhara and Rahul Manwar noticed the fire on one of the cotton vessels and even before he could act the fire spread out fast. The two employees immediately informed Dileep Agrawal and Diwan Bhakare, proprietors of the company. Fire tenders from Arvi Municipal Council, CAD, Pulgaon and Wardha Municipal Council were summoned to the spot and it was hard task for them to douse the flames and the operation lasted for more than 9 hours.
The fire engulfed 2,000 cotton bales and 6,000 quintals of cotton worth Rs 5 crore.
Ashok Chaudhari, Police Inspector of Arvi, and Vijay Pawar, Tehsildar, visited the spot. The fire incident is being investigated, it has been informed.
