Engineering student caught with pistol, live cartridges

Sensation gripped Rukhmini Nagar area of the city on Wednesday after the guard at the house of MLA Dr Sunil Deshmukh caught an Engineering student along with a countrymade pistol and live cartridges. The student has been identified as Aman Arun Wankhade.


Acting on a tip off, cop Dinesh Bhise, who is deployed at the residence Dr Deshmukh, stopped 22-year-old Aman, who is student of a reputed local engineering college, when he was passing in front of the Dr Deshmukh’s house. Aman was riding a scooty (MH-27/AD-5411).


Aman tried to flee away but Bhise chased him and caught him. On searching he allegedly found a countrymade pistol and 2 cartridges with Aman.Bhise then handed over Aman to Rajapeth Police.


During interrogation Aman allegedly told police that the pistol and cartridges had been given to him by one Sameer Pande from Amravati to be delivered to a customer. Pande had allegedly paid Aman Rs 5,000 to executing the work.
Rajapeth Police have arrested the student and started the investigation.
Police were interrogating Aman Wankhade while filing the report while process to registered offence was also going on.
