EARLIER, the Std XI was regarded as resting year for the students and not much stress was given on the syllabus by the teachers and students alike. “Now, the students will have to give equal weightage to both Std XI and Std XII syllabi to qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to get admissions into medical colleges,” said Syed Iftekhar Ali, Director of Ali Coaching Classes Private Limited, while talking to The Hitavada.
An Ordinance passed by the President in May 2016, made compulsory all admissions for medical in India through NEET exam. “NEET is a national level medical entrance test regulated by the CBSE Board. Earlier, the students in Maharashtra were giving MH-CET exam to get admissions to medical colleges in the State,” he said.
In accordance of NEET, the faculty members at Ali Coaching Classes have developed new techniques to deal with the changes in exam pattern. The highly trained faculty members with a rich teaching experience have prepared a new set of test papers, notes and mock tests including negative marking to get the students acquainted with the new exam pattern. Ali Coaching Classes prepares students in subjects like Chemistry, Biology and Physics. “The question pattern in NEET is of more difficult level and more skill-oriented compared to MH-CET which has now been dissolved,” he added.
There are approximately 54,000 medical seats in the country and more than 7.50 lakh students appear for the NEET exam every year. In Maharashtra alone, there are about 6,000 seats.
Medical colleges in Maharashtra give quota of 85 per cent to students passing out from the State and 15 per cent quota for students from all over India.
Ali Coaching Classes was started in 1977 and has an impeccable reputation for teaching students in medical entrance exams.
