Raw material worth lakhs gutted at bread factory

An inferno erupted on Wednesday morning at a bread factory in State capital’s Govindpura Industrial Area, Ashoka Garden, on Wednesday. Assets, including raw material, worth Rs 10 lakh were gutted in a fire which is suspected to be caused due to short circuit. Fortunately, no causalities were reported so far. MP Food Products has a franchise of Modern bread and it supplies it in State capital as well as in nearby districts.

The fire incident took place in Govindpura Industrial Area under Ashoka Garden police station. Police said that proprietor did not approach the police station to report the incident.

According to fire brigade, they received information in afternoon around 12.25 after which around two dozen fire tenders were pressed into job to douse the raging flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and short circuit is assumed to be the reason. No casualty or injury has been reported yet. Tall flames raging from the Modern Bread Factory were seen. The fire has also caused thick smoke in Govindpura. Fire station in-charge of Pull Bogda, Aktar Ali said, “Nearly two dozen fire fighters and extinguishers were pressed into service to douse the fire erupted in Modern Bread Factory. Immediately, we swung into action, when we received the phone at noon about the fire. The fire was brought under control completely in one-and-a-half hour.” Kamlesh Saraswat, Proprietor of MP Food Products, said, “Fire erupted in my godown which is just adjacent to main factory. The godown has storage of fuel, oil and other raw material. Third grade diesel in stored here. Factory is still intact and manufacturing is unaffected. Nearly damage worth Rs 10 lakh, we incurred. Manufacturing and supply are unaffected even after fire,” he said. Meanwhile, it was a second incident of major fire in State capital within three days as earlier, stock of timbers ranging in between Rs 25 and 30 was lakh turned into ashes in the inferno which broke out at timber market in Talaiya near Indian Oil petrol pump in the old city.
