VIPL celebrates National Safety Week

Vidarbha Industries Power Limited (VIPL) celebrated the 46th National Safety Week from March 4 to March 10 with great enthusiasm and commitment for safety. Entire plant premises was decorated with colourful banners, placards, safety message/awareness boards etc., highlighting the need for safety and advocating various safety habits and practices among the employees and contractor workers.


During the Safety Week Campaign Ashesh Padhy, Station Director flagged off the safety rally by the employees, HoDs and contractor employees which went round the plant by chanting of the safety messages, safety songs to inculcate safety awareness and promoting safety culture.
He advised the safety team to work for zero safety violations to achieve the objective of zero accidents goal. The programmes included safety competitions on safety slogans, safety quiz, usage of breathing apparatus sets and emergency chlorine handling, elocution, safety pep talks, safety posters, best safety workers, good safety record and awareness programmes on PTW, road safety, electrical safety, gas cylinders safety, fire safety, demos on fire fighting, chlorine emergency handling, working at heights etc.


The concluding day function was held on March 10. Srinivas Nadipelli, Head- EHS briefed the audience about the various activities conducted during the Safety Week campaign. A B Kamble, Joint Director (Rtd) Industrial Safety and Health was the chief guest for the function.


In his address, he appreciated VIPL for implementing the best safety practices and achieving zero accidents since inception of the plant. He complimented VIPL for achieving many Safety and Environment Awards from NSC and other reputed Institutions. Rajendra Kale, Factory Manager administered the safety pledge to the gathering of workers and employees. D P Bhoyar, Head – C&I and IT presided over the function.


In his address advised the employees and contractor employees to implement the best safety practices and make VIPL as a best power plant and a model plant for others to follow with our achievements.
All the winners of the safety competitions were awarded with prizes, mementos and certificates of appreciation.
