Women’s SHGs allege cheating by microfinance companies

Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti and Shetkari Sanghatna led a morcha of members of women’s self help groups on Kamleshwar Tahasil office.

The women have alleged cheating by microfinance companies. A memorandum addresed to the Chief Minister was handed over to the Tahasildar by Chief Convenor Ram Newale.
The women, about 2,000 in number, have alleged that in the name of microfinance they were cheated. The big industrialists became defaulters affecting the financial transactions of thr weaker sections. They are required to repay at higher interest rates, for faults of others. They also have demanded that unpaid dues from bigger industrialists may be recovered first, to protect the suffering Self Help Groups.

Besides newale, Arun kedar, Adv Asrchana Nandghale, Adv Madhuri rahangdale, Arvind Deshmukh, Bhaiyaji Makde, Nagbadi Hiwarkar addressed the gathering. Adv Nandghale and Adv Rahangdale spoke, as to how the loans are illegal. Prabhakar Kohale, Maya, Adv Chaudhari also expressed their views.The Committee has appealed to the SHGs not to repay the loan, unless the issue is sorted out.
