The first citizen of Nagpur, Mayor Nandatai Jichkar sought people’s co-operation for ongoing infrastructure projects which she said are aimed at transforming the city. Yes, she admitted due to simultaneous execution of several projects the citizens are facing some inconvenience but Jichkar promised that these pains won’t go waste. A new Nagpur is emerging and a grand future await the Generation Next and they would be thankful as once these projects gets completed the city would be in reckoning for big ticket investment.
Mayor further reasoned that number of projects are result of leadership of Nagpur's Member of Parliament and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the two are sourcing funds from every available avenue to build new infrastructure in city. And the two visionary leaders are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Nagpur is transformed into big league even as she thanked Nagpurians for ensuring continuity in NMC and giving a massive mandate for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
She was responding to felicitation accorded by Janmanch, a premier social organisation of city, with which Jichkar has long association. The programme was held on Friday at Shreemant Baburao Dhanwate Auditorium of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Sabha, Shankar Nagar. Prof Sharad Patil, Advisor, Janmanch, was guest of honour while Adv. Anil Killor, President, presided. Pradeep Ninave and Naresh Kshirsagar, General Secretary, were also seated on the dais.
Earlier, Prof Sharad Patil in his welcome speech said while concept of Smart City is very good but said the development should not to be so smart that people might feel uncomfortable there. The thought is quite okay but ground reality is that people here are not that smart and hence expected Mayor to ensure that basic problems of society are resolved. Atleast what is expected in Smart City is that it would be pothole free.
Adv. Anil Killor said that it's quite welcoming to see that one among them is now the first citizen of Nagpur. Also he said Janmanch is confident that Nandatai Jichkar would have successful tenure given her long association with public organisation and concern for basic issues of masses. And if at all the organisation is forced to highlight any major public issue then same should not been seen as criticism and rather as a Mayor she should welcome it and take corrective action.
At the outset, Shubhada Pande welcomed Mayor Nandatai Jichkar. Later, Mayor was felicitated by Adv. Anil Killor. Her husband, Sharad Jichkar, Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Nagpur, was also present.
