Devastating fire at jute sack factory, stock worth lakhs gutted

COLOSSAL stock of jute bags and raw material worth lakhs was gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at a jute sack factory in Richhai industrial area on Sunday evening. The fire was so intense that the Fire Department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation had to seek support of Gun Carriage Factory (GCF) in dousing the fire. Fire tenders, tankers and other vehicles of JMC had to make over 25 trips to and fro from Adhartal Pump station to fetch water and douse the devastating fire.
As mounds of jute sacks caught fire in the factory, the fire spread into a larger area. Fire fighters had to toil hard for hours to douse the fire completely. Superintendent of Fire Department Sunil Jaiswal informed the newspaper that Vardhaman Bardana Factory situated in Richhai Industrial area in Adhartal caught fire at about 5.20 pm. He said Police Control Room had informed the Fire Department about the incident.
Jaiswal said soon after receiving the information the Fire Department sent nine vehicles one after another, including five fire tenders and four tankers, to douse the devastating fire. As heaps of jute sacks were in flames it took no time to spread into the larger protion. Till fire fighters reached the site, fire had already engulfed huge stock of jute bags. Jaiswal informed that the fire fighters by making hard toil have saved adjacent godown of the factory. He said fire was so devastating that they had to seek help from GCF in controlling it. He said fire fighters made untiring efforts to douse the fire. They made 25 trips to Adhartal Pump station to fetch water and douse fire. Fire Department officials informed that tonnes of jute sacks were completely charred in the fire.
