Diamond jubilee passing out parade held at NCC OTA

National Cadet Corps (NCC) inducted 264 Associated NCC Officers (ANOs) to its fold at an impressive passing out parade held at NCC Officers’ Training Academy at Kamptee on Saturday. The parade also marked Diamond Jubilee of the Academy.
The passing out parade was reviewed by Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht, AVSM, VSM**, Director General, NCC. Officer-Cadet Sam Joseph Braganza and Officer Cadet Akella Gurusaran won Director General’s Baton for standing first in order of merit amongst the Senior Division and Junior Division respectively. The Director General’s Banner for Inter-Company Championship was won by Shivaji Company. The parade was commanded by Officer-Cadet Sandeep Kumar.

The selected professors and teachers from all over the country, trained into ANOs marched to the tunes of ‘Sare Jahan Se Accha’ and ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Jaa’ rendered by the brass band of Guards Regimental Centre, Kamptee. The ceremony was witnessed by a number of service and civil dignitaries, relatives of Officer-Cadets, school-children and NCC cadets.

Addressing the officers, Director General of NCC reminded them of their primary responsibility to achieve aims and objectives of NCC. He exhorted them to prepare NCC cadets to take their rightful place as leaders and patriotic citizens in all walks of life including the Armed Forces.

The Officer-Cadets went through a rigorous training programme of three months duration, including physical training, yoga, drill, leadership, personality development and a host of other military and social awareness subjects to empower them to conduct NCC training efficiently in their respective units. The Director General urged the passing out ANOs to work towards effective nation building through shaping young minds. He wanted all ANOs to be role models to the cadets in particular and to the society at large.
The reviewing officer also reminded them of the bounden duty to ensure safety and security in conduct of the institutionalised and camp training curriculum of NCC. He also expressed his happiness on high standards of drill by the passing out course and complimented the Commandant and staff.
