Staff Reporter,

Bhumkal, an organisation working against naxalism in Gadchiroli and Nagpur, had organised a seminar on ‘Naxalite’s Challenges before Indian Constitution’ at Vinoba Vichar Kendra, here.

President of Bhumkal Prof Arvind Sowani spoke about roots of naxalism spread in tribal hamlets, villages and even in urban areas. Efforts to instigating youth to act against democracy are being made systematically. The method of weakening faith in democracy is being used by showing loopholes and lacunae in it. The government replied to them with arms, which, however, is not the solution. Ambedkarites should work to find solution to the problem.

Dr Harsh Jagjap from Pune University said that none of the follower of Dr Ambedkar has ever thoughts of working against the Constitution. Why then one should think of naxalism. He also criticised functioning of RSS and expressed confidence that the naxal problem can be solved by the Republican. Retired IAS officer E Z Khobragade, in his presidential address said, Ambedkar’s thoughts and Maoism were contradictory to each other and a true Ambedkarite can never sympathise with Maoist.
A session to discuss various dimensions of Maoism was also held. Joint Secretary prof Shrikant Bhowate quoted some examples from Chandrapur to state that naxalites are instigating youth and defaming Ambedkarites.
