Visitors throng Ghadkaleva to taste traditional dishes

Cultural Department, Government of Chhattisgarh has been spreading popular local dishes at the ‘Ghadkaleva’ located at Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum in Raipur. The traditional methods of Chhattisgarh cooking are being preserved, propagated and spread among the visitors. Citizens throng to the place to have a taste of the local flavour dishes. Cheela, Fera, Laadu, Kurmi, Tetri, Ureed Bara and several other eatables are being sold at the centre. The sale is done by Monisha Women’s Self-Help Group.


It employs 35 staff. It may be noted that Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh inaugurated the ‘Ghadkaleva’ in the month of January. It is designed as per the local village with cots etc. Visitors enjoy local flavoured dishes in congenial environment. Chhattisgarh folk songs and music are played. The taste of dishes differs from other States. ‘Ghadkaleva’ is a milestone in the food served to the customers.
