Alexis Multispecialty Hospital holds ‘Dialysis Connect’ symposium

ALEXIS Multispecialty Hospital organised a social awareness programme on ‘Prevention and management of kidney diseases’ on March 5, marking the World Kidney Day which falls on March 9, every year. The programme was held at Alexis auditorium. 32 kidney patients including the ones under haemodialysis or other renal ailments attended the programme from all over the city.
Dr Nishant Deshpande, Consultant Nephrologist, Alexis Multispecialty Hospital addressed the audience and urged all dialysis patients to come together and form a forum to spread knowledge about dialysis therapy in the society as there is a continuous and alarming rise in renal failures in patients of Central India.
He stressed the importance of a carefully guided programme which could help patients to lead a normal lifestyle with a presentation which focused on the forms of dialysis.
Dr Juned Shaikh, Consultant Urologist was also present at the programme. Audience benefited a great deal from the expert advice. Nutritionists Nazneen Siddiqui and Radhika counselled the audience on proper nutritious diet planning and its importance in management of kidney diseases.
Suraj Tripathi, Director Operations highlighted the significance of these camps saying, “Monitoring critical kidney disorders (CKDs) is important at an early stage when the disorder can be treated completely. Ignorance may result in huge losses to lives and families. Simple disciplines of lifestyle and diets can make all the difference.
