HSLT labourers press demands for DPR workers status in BSP

HUNDREDS of HSLT labourers took out the march to press their demands for DPR workers status in Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) at Ispat Bhawan road in Bhilai on Wednesday. The agitating HSLT labourers were led by Bashishth Narayan Mishra and Manish Pandey, Patrons, BSP HSLT Shramik Sangh, Bhilai.


According to information, a large number of HSLT labourers on Wednesday took out the march for pressing demands of S-1 grade with DPR workers status in BSP. The march was taken out from Equipment Chowk to Ispat Bhawan area in Bhilai and the labourers were accompanied by Bashishth Narayan Mishra and Manish Pandey, Patrons, BSP HSLT Shramik Sangh, Bhilai. The labourers raised slogans for fulfillment of their demands at the earliest and the march was concluded peacefully.


Bashishtha Narayan Mishra, Patron, BSP HSLT Shramik Sangh, Bhilai informed that since the HSLT labourers were granted S-1 grade and DPR workers status in other units under SAIL and they are also the CPF covered labourers, hence they ought to be granted S-1 grade and DPR workers status in BSP. He informed that about 26 HSLT labourers of BSP were staging chain hunger strike for over a month at Equipment Chowk in Bhilai, since they were jobless after execution of the BSP contract by the contractual firm.


As many as 933 HSLT labourers of BSP on Wednesday joined them and took out the march to press their demands for DPR workers status and for S-1 grade in BSP. The HSLT labourers delegation led by Bashishtha Narayan Mishra and Manish Pandey personally met M K Barman, Executive Director (P&A), BSP and handed over a memorandum in the same context.
The delegation was assured of necessary measures at management level for considering demands and safeguarding the interest of the labourers.
