DEALERS of two-wheelers in the city closed down shutters of their showrooms as the entire stock of Bharat Stage-III vehicles was sold off within hours of opening on Friday. Still people were trying their luck visiting different dealer showrooms throughout the day hunting for any vehicle which might have not been sold off. Some of the dealers had sold the entire stock on Thursday itself.
P K Jain, Director of Aditya Hero said that there were some people who did not get a chance to buy two-wheelers, had created a ruckus and disrupted the smooth functioning of his showroom due to which he had to close the shutters in the afternoon.
At Aditya Hero, more than 550 vehicles had been sold. He said that at his showroom this was the same case as other two wheeler dealers in the city.
People in large numbers had taken advantage of the heavy discounts offered by manufacturers ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 22,000 and in some cases even upto Rs 30,000 on vehicles with BS-III emission standards.
The two-wheeler companies had offered clearance sale due to the ban on sales of vehicles with BS-III emission standards after March 31 by the Supreme Court.
A K Gandhi, Director of TVS Gandhi said that the entire stock of more than 350 vehicles had been sold off at his dealership. But there was not much response to the discounts on four wheelers, he added.
