Indian fashion designers have started proving their mettle on international platforms, and the world is fascinated with the rich heritage of the country, said Anil Khosla, CEO of INIFD, in an exclusive interview with The Hitavada on Tuesday.
He was in city to inaugurate the new High Tech Centre of INIFD at Chhapru Nagar. Overwhelmed with the performance of one of the city student at last season of London Fashion Week, Khosla said, “The myth that fashion designing is only for the students of big city has now been broken. Tier II cities have more talent as they are more close to the society. One successful designer gives work to the many artisans and has rich potential to gain popularity in world. The world is ready to embrace the rich Indian heritage and culture. It is now upto the Indian designers to catch the global open market.”
He said, INIFD has been granted permission for 2 shows at the London Fashion Week to be held on September 16, this year. “Our 24 students will be showcasing their creations, displaying Indian culture. I am here to encourage that more students qualify from Nagpur. Nidhi Maheshwari has now opened the door for city fashion designers,” he said.
Khosla looks after INIFD which has presence in 11 countries. Working with INIFD since 22 years and making the career of students interested in the fashion and interior design, said, “Instead of expanding branches, now the focus is to groom every students as per the international standards.”
