Taking cue from the CM’s idea of planting sapling of trees on the banks of Narmada river, Animal Husbandry and Environment Minister Antar Singh Arya has given suggestion to Government that environment can also be saved in great manner if saplings of selected trees are planted on both sides of national highways, state highways and other roads in State.
Talking to “The Hitavada”, Antar Singh Arya said that he had given a proposal to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that for environment conservation, plantation can also be done on either side of all kind of roads, including national highway, state highway, Mukyamantri Gramin Road and road constructed by rural engineering service. “In this work, Government did not need to acquire the land as enough land is available on either side of roads for plantation purpose. This work will help in great manner in environment conservation,” he said.
He suggested Government that it would be good if saplings of selected trees like mango, banyan, peepal, ‘Neemadi Neem’ are planted on either side of all kind of roads- having length of thousands of kilometers in State. He had also said that there are seven districts in Indore division and in treeless hilly areas of these districts, ‘Neemadi Neem’ should be planted as it has great quality of soaking the water.
He was of the view that Forest Department should make special project and plantation. He said that no separate budget is also needed for plantation work on either side of roads as this work can be done through MNREGA. Hence, Government will not have to bear extra expenditure. He said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had praised the proposal given by him. Hence, one should not be surprised if Government takes positive decision on his proposal in future.
