Itarsi GRP busts train robbers’ gang, seven held; 2 absconding

Government Railway Police (GRP) Itarsi busted a gang of seven train robbers. The gang members used to relieve train passengers of their belongings and also used to snatch purse and other belongings from train commuters when trains used to slow down at outer stations.


In one such incident happened near Bhopal a few days back, they tried to rob CRPF Jawan’s wife but she had resisted the move and in this bid, she fell down from moving train and lost one of her legs.


Accused have confessed their role in 17 incidents and booty of Rs 4,03,500 has been seized from their possession.
Two more accused are on run and efforts are being made to arrest them. Accused mainly used to target women and have robbed 9 women.


Mainly train passengers of Maharashtra’s Mumbai, Solapur, Ulhas Nagar, Chalisgaon, Jalgaon, Dharavi West Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad, Betul, Harda, Shajapur and Morena have become victim of this robbers’ gang.


The accused have been identified as Kamlesh Dhurve (33), Roshan alias Jameel Khan (20), Kallu alias Omprakash Bhadoria (25), Shankar Jaiswal (21), Sunil Kumar Mandal (23), Arjun Uike (20), Devendra Sarate (21). All accused hails from Hoshangabad. Two more accused are absconding.


As far as CRPF Jawan’s wife is concerned then she was going to Delhi from Chhattisgarh and accused targeted her near Bhopal. Her name is Guneshwari Devi and she is resident of Chhattisgarh. “We have also recovered the snatched purse of Guneshwari Devi and the things kept in purse including Aadhaar card, ATM card have been recovered,” told Itarsi GRP Station Incharge B S Chouhan to ‘The Hitavada’. Currently, Guneshwari Devi is recuperating in Hamidia Hospital.
One of the modus operandi of held accused was this that they used to commit incident when trains were becoming slow on outer stations.
