Raigarh students dominate CGBSE Class XII merit list

Ten out of 24 students found a place in the merit list of Class XII Examinations 2017 belong to Raigarh district.
Bilaspur stood second with four students from the district making it to the merit list and Durg coming third with two students securing the position.

It is to be mentioned, the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) declared the results of Class XII on Thursday. According to the CGBSE, only one student from Raipur, Kshitij Agrawal (Deshbandhu (English) H S School, secured a place in the merit list obtain 10th position with 95.40 per cent marks.

Meanwhile, the state has witnessed a constant growth in the results of Class XII, according to the data furnished by a government agency. In 2012, the pass percentage of students in Class XII examination was 63 which reached 76.36 per cent in the year 2017. In last five years, a rise of 13.36 per cent in the results has been witnessed. Every year, the increase
in percentage of results has been varying between 1 and 4 per cent.

Speaking on the slow growth rate of results despite recent drive to improve standard of education in the state, school education minister Kedar Kashyap and secretary Vikas Sheel said, “We are going to review the results at school, block and district-level. Those responsible for the poor results will be questioned and held accountable.”
