“Though, the Modi wave is everywhere, still I have faith in the unity and strength of our party,” said Avinash Pande, newly-appointed All India Congress Committee, General Secretary and in-charge of Rajasthan. He seemed to be well planned and prepared for his new responsibility during a friendly interaction with the mediapersons at ‘Meet the Press’ organised at Nagpur Union of Working Journalist at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan on Tuesday.

He was welcomed by Pradeep Maitra, President of NUWJ. Anees Ahmed, Prafful Gudadhe were also present.

Pande, former Member of Parliament , was earlier Secretary of All India Congress Committee. For past 12 years, he was with AICC in Delhi. Sharing his happiness for the recent post of General Secretary, he said, “AICC President Sonia Gandhi and VP Rahul Gandhi find me capable of handling the huge responsibility. Definitely, its a challenge for me where I have to drag the people from the dreamy world to the reality,” he said.

He described ‘Modi Wave’ as ‘Sapne dikhane ki Baat’ (Dreamy world). “People will face the reality soon,” said Pande informing that his party members are working very hard for the coming elections. “ I am currently focusing on the organisation elections. Once the members are finalised, I will meet the local people in all 34 administrative districts of Rajasthan,” he said.

Where Pande talked about united efforts of the Party, he was questioned for the recent conflicts between the congress members itself. The Minister replied, “I didn’t found any differences among the members.”

After the repeated failures in the elections, the AICC have still not lost the hope. The party has taken the coming assembly polls of Rajasthan as a challenge. Talking about the challenging issues in Rajasthan, “ First is to activate the ‘Yojana’s which has been slowed down by the opposition parties while the other issue is corruption.

Talking about the recent postings and reshuffling in the party, Pande said that the party is making a team having young candidates and experienced elder persons. The joint efforts and co-ordination between the young candidates with the elder persons will take the party to a new route.

Asked about Rahul Gandhi to be soon elected as President of AICC, Pande said that its just the informal matter whether he worked as a Vice President or President. “Important is, how he is carrying his responsibility.”
