Illicit liquor worth Rs 13 lakh seized in two raids in Wardha

SLEUTHs from local crime branch (LCB) and Sevagram Police seized illicit liquor worth of Rs 13 lakh within last 48 hours from Hinganghat and Paonar.


As per police sources, acting on a tip off, LCB team stopped a four-wheeler (MH-01/ PA-7468) near Reliance petrol pump in Hinganghat on Wednesday and found liquor worth of Rs 6,87,200 in the vehicle. They detained Pankaj Dilip Kale (24), a resident of Dnyaneshwar Ward, Hinganghat. On the directives of District Superintendent of Police Nirmaladevi S and Additional Superintendent of Police Chinmay Pandit, the team of Ashok Sable, Rajendra Thakur and Swapnil Bhardadwaj conducted the enquiry under the guidance of PI (LCB) Parag Pote.


In yet another action, acting on a tip off, Sevagram Police stopped a four-wheeler (MH-32/Y-4668) on Paonar river bridge on Tuesday and seized country liquor worth of Rs 6.45 lakh from the vehicle. Cops arrested Sandeep Kavadu Pendam(29), a resident of Hingni, but his accomplice managed to flee away from the spot.


An offence was registered at Sevagram Police Station under relevant sections of law. The action was taken by a team led by SDPO Madhav Padile and comprising PI, Sevagram Police Bhanudas Pisurkar, Sudhir Ladke, Pankaj Ghode, Sunil Malankar, Harshavardhan Moon, Mangesh Waghode and Santosh Pande under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Nirmaladevi S and Addl SP Chinmay Pandit.
