OFB releases order of downsizing employees, initiates superannuation

ANOTHER major jolt occured for Oordnance Factories employees. Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), Kolkata started preparations of superannuation. Ayudh Bhawan has sought information about the performance of employees in the name of periodical review of Government servant from Ordnance Factories till December 2017.
It may be noted that PMO had sought details about productions carried out at Ordnance Factories before releasing the order for outsourcing of non-core group defence products and equipment. Another order, dated May 8, for performance review of old employees has confirmed the intentions of the Ministry of Defense for downsising of ordnance factories.
“The Government of India has cleared its intentions for privatisation of defense production and downsising of Ordnance Factories for providing undue advantage to corporate houses. The federation has already declared for protesting Government’s stand to save Ordnance Factories. Government has completely overlooked the rights of trade unions by not consulting a major issue related to the future of Ordnance Factories”, says C Srikumar, National General Secretary of All India Defense Employees’ Federation (AIDEF).
OFB has directed Ordnance Factories for fording of periodical review of performance of Group-B and Group-C employees who have completed their 30 years of service and aging between 50 to 55 years. Ordnance Factories have been directed that the said procedure also stipulates that such cases should be reviewed six months before the employee attains age of 50-55 years and on completion of 30-years of qualifying service.
Factories management will have to forward the performance review reports of Group – B gazette and non-gazetted employees through the scrutiny committee to respective cadre controlling sections by June 15. Similarly, performance review report of Group – C employees should be forwarded till June 22
