Surprise check at Himalayan Height Colony

A team of police conducted surprise checking at Himalayan Height Colony, New Rajendra Nagar on Wednesday morning. The team led by Purani Basti City Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Sharma, Quick Response Team (QRT), and Police Line numbering to 50 visited the spot and searched at over 400 houses. The surprise checking was performed between 6 am to 10 am. The checking was specially done at flats where some batchers were also staying.
The documents, all the residents were found to be satisfactory and genuine. No one was apprehended or found suspicious during the checking, informed Sandhya Dwivedi, Station House Officer of New Rajendra Nagar police station. She added that similar checking will continue in the colonies in coming days.
It may be recalled that during recent past one such case came to light in which suspects used colonies at outskirts of city has hideouts. Engineer Sushil Gupta, a resident of Sundar Nagar, working with Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was kidnapped and held hostage in a house of Boriakala.
A ransom of Rs 10 lakh was demanded from his wife. His wife reported the matter with police and acting swiftly the police with the help of CCB succeeded in nabbing the accused and released Engineer unhurt within 18 hours. Six were arrested.
