Oil tanker catches fire

A tanker was engulfed in fire after on National Highway No-6 on Wednesday night. According to the driver of the tanker, he noticed some smoke coming out of the rear wheels of the vehicle and it might be the reason behind the fire.

As per information received from Mandir Hasaud police, the incident took place at about 10:30 pm when the tanker (CG12-C/3078) loaded with Furnace oil left Lakholi oil depot for Raigarh. The truck was on the way to Raigarh.

Driver Uttam Das (36), a resident of Navariya under Jamul police station, noticed smoke coming out of the truck’s rear wheel. He parked the vehicle on the National Highway near Chherikhedi. He immediately informed the matter to police. Police contacted Monet Ispat and Fire Brigade of Raipur
Municipal Corporation for fire fighter vehicle. By the time the fire brigade vehicle reached the spot the fire broke out and engulfed the vehicle.

Two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and doused the fire. It took about one hour to douse the fire. Mandir Hasaud police registered a case.
However, the estimate of loss could not be known.
