RSC celebrates Technology Day

Raman Science Centre and Planetarium celebrated National Technology Day by conducting drawing competition and science lectures on Thursday at Centre premises, Gandhi Sagar.


National Technology Day is celebrated across India on May 11; being commemorated to memorise the anniversary of Operation Shakti, the Pokhran nuclear test –II held on same day in 1998. The day glorifies the importance of Science and Technology in day-to-day life and motivates students to adopt Science as the career option.


The day is important for scientists, engineers, planners and all other engaged in governance and nation-building. Sit and draw contest attracted kids. The topics of the contest were India’s technological achievements; Nuclear Energy - Green Energy; Science and Technology in our daily life.


An open house quiz contest was also held. Popular Science Lecture was held for the students on the topic “Additive Manufacturing -A revolutionary process”. The lecture was delivered by M K Panda, Curator, Raman Science Centre, Nagpur. Panda highlighted the diverse application of additive manufacturing like 3D Printing across different fields.


A special science lecture on “Nuclear Energy Green Energy” was delivered by Dr Amit Majumdar, Former Regional Director, Atomic Mineral Directorate for Exploration and Research, Nagpur. Dr Majumdar has also satisfied the queries of students by answering their questions related to nuclear energy.
A prize distribution function was held in which winners of Sit and Draw contest were honoured. M K Panda, Curator and Abhimanyu Bhelave, Education Officer, RSC were present on the occasion.
