Ethiopian delegates visit ICAR-CICR

An eight member delegation from Ethiopian Industrial Inputs Development Enterprise (EIIDE), Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute (ETIDI), Cotton Producers, Ginners and Exporters Association (CPGEA), Ministry of Agriculture and Nature Resources and Ministry of Industry and Enterprise Partners visited ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research (ICAR-CICR) recently.

The objective of their visit was to understand cotton production technologies, mechanisation, ginning and spinning of cotton, post  harvest technologies, value addition, pricing and marketing and import and export policies in India. Asfawesen Alene, Director General, EIIDE headed the delegation.

Dr M S Ladaniya, Director, ICAR-CICR welcomed the delegates and introduced all the scientists. He explained overall activities of the institute, cotton research in the country and technologies developed to solve farmers specific problems.

Dr Ladaniya also emphasised the importance of the visit to form roadmap to enhance the cotton value chain in Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Dr Blaise Desouza, Head, Division of Crop Production gave the details about the diversity and status of cotton production and productivity in India.

The delegation interacted with scientists and clarified their queries especially on cotton pricing and marketing system in India. The expressed their satisfaction over the visit and the information provided by the scientists.
