BJP said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform “Aarti” at the origin point of Narmada river and later on, he will address the function to be attended by thousands of people

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took stock of the preparations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Yatra, who is reaching Amarkantak to take part in the completion of the “Namami Devi Narmade” – Seva Yatra at Amarkantak. He instructed officials to complete all preparations within time limit.


Chief Minister Chouhan said that May 15 is a day of fulfillment of a resolution. This is completion of Seva Yatra, not conclusion. He said that a well-planned workplan would be made with the inspiration of the Prime Minister. Narmada Seva work would begin from May 16. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to be the chief guest of the function, hence police have made tight security arrangement in and around the venue.

CM will receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helipad made few kilometer away from the programme venue and from there both of them will head towards programme venue by road. The function also gains importance that, apart from CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his Cabinet ministers are also going to take part in the programme.

The Chief Minister said that the public support received by the Seva Yatra is unimaginable. The Yatra has continued in the form of a ritual. The public became the flag-bearer.

This is the world’s biggest river conservation campaign. People belonging to all classes and societies took part enthusiastically in the Yatra and resolved to conserve the Narmada. Forest Minister Dr Gaurishankar Shejwar, Home Minister Bhupendra Singh, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Omprakash Dhurve, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Anuppur district in charge Minister Sanjay Pathak were also present.

Narmada Yatra will get concluded, but new works will be started in the direction to preserve and conserve Narmada river. Notably, Narmada Sewa Yatra was conceptualised by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and it got rousing support from people, cutting across the line of religion, caste. This Yatra literally turned into a public movement. Many VVIPs, including Dalai Lama, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and noted personalities, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, film star Govinda have taken part in Narmada Sewa Yatra, which also attracted the attention of nation as well as entire world.
