Diarrhoea spreading tentacles in Shivpara area of Durg; 9 including corporator hospitalised

Diarrhoea has spread in Shivpara Ward of Durg Municipal Corporation (DMC) Nine persons including Corporator Kanya Dheemar have been hospitalized. DMC officials EE AK Dutta, Water Works Department Sub Engineer RK Pandey, RK Palia visited hospital late in the night and took information from the Corporator. MLA Arun Vora and Congress Corporators also visited. Corporator told there is a big pit in the ward where Sulabh toilet water and dairy water is collected and due to lack of outlet diarrhoea and other contagious diseases are spreading. She had reported Commissioner Sundarani for outlet of water from the pit.


Commissioner Sundarani said pipeline will be checked for leakage though old pipeline has been changed. On Monday, a medical camp was conducted. Attention should be paid to water supply pipeline passing through drains. Four years back 18 people had died of diarrhoea in this ward. Mayor Chandrika Chandrakar along with the Commissioner visited Saraswati Nagar Ward, Kandarapara and Shivpara area on getting information of diarrhoea outbreak. Drinking water and sanitation were checked.

Sanitation supervisors and sanitary workers were reprimanded and instructed to clean drains properly and she drank water and appealed citizens not to throw waste materials in drains. Women reported water supply with less pressure. The Mayor instructed to connect with new pipeline. During visit MIC In-charge Dinesh Diwangan, Devnarayan Chandrakar, Chandrashekhar Chandrakar, Vijay Jalkare, Praveer Mohan Pintu, EE AK Dutta, AE Rajesh Pandey, Jasveer Singh Bhupal were present.
