Two killed as bike collides with truck near Rampur Baghelan

Talking on the cell phone while driving proved fatal for two brothers from Jabalpur going to Rewa on motorbike to attend marriage ceremony of their relative on Sunday evening. The two died after colliding head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite end. The immediate reason behind the mishap has been that youth driving the bike was busy talking on the cell phone and lost control seeing the fast approaching truck. The mishap took place on National Highway near Rampur Baghelan under Rampur Baghelan police station.

According to information, the two youths were travelling on bike (MP 20 E 0208) and started from Jabalpur to reach Rewa to attend marriage ceremony of a relative.
While approaching Khutaha curve near Rampur Baghelan on the National Highway, the bike collided head on with a speeding truck (UP 63 H 9140). After being hit by the truck both the youths were thrown around 100 meters away and were left in a pool of blood.

The truck driver however did not flee from the spot and parked his truck on the other side of the road. Large number of people gathered on the spot and informed the police. Police reached the spot and carried out investigations and registered a case under relevant sections of IPC. both bodies were badly crushed the identification was possible after the last number dialed on the cell phone was contacted.

The deceased were identified as Suresh Mahesh Patel (27) and his brother Santosh (29), residents from Ranidurgwati Samadhi road Barha, Jabalpur. Both sustained fatal head injury on being crushed by the speeding truck and died within minutes of the mishap.

A traffic jam was witnessed on the National Highway after the mishap, as long queue of vehicles on both sides piled up till the bodies were sent for autopsy to Rampur Baghelan community health centre.

The truck driver parked his truck and surrendered before the police who registered case under relevant section of IPC. The truck has been seized by the police and further investigations are underway. The family members at Jabalpur after being informed reached the community health center late in the night as the bodies were handed over by the health center administration.
