Raipur is gearing up to host its first International Yoga Day on June 21. State’s Higher Education Department has been assigned with the job to put up all the arrangements for a grand widespread event.
Higher Education Minister Premprakash Pandey held a meeting of officers from his Department, National Service Scheme (NSS) and professors/teachers of colleges and schools regarding preparation. Minister asked them to hold a ‘Yoga Fest Camp’ from June 15 to June 21.
Pandey also released annual magazine ‘Samarpan’ and a telephone director. Meanwhile, officials told the Minister that last year a four-day long Yoga camp was held at Agriculture University Campus. Minister apprised them about other objectives of Yoga camps, which include introducing NSS students to the rural atmosphere and also to make them understand about their social responsibilities. Students are also connected to progress oriented programmes. These NSS cadets can later be proponent of Yoga to urban and rural places.
Additional Secretary Sunil Kujoor shared his experiences as a NSS cadet during college days whereas Dr Samrendra Singh informed about NSS activities.
