Seven involved in various crimes arrested

IN a breakthrough in reported cases of loot, thefts and cheating, police nabbed seven and confiscated cash Rs 9,500 and two stolen motorbikes from their possession in Bhilai. Among the accused two arrested by police were involved in loot on knife point reportedly occurred in Priyadarshani Parisar, Supela, Bhilai on April 19 evening.


Police sources informed that the six accused involved in loot on knife point along with couple of motorbike thefts were identified as Kamlesh Dewangan (29), a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Supela, Bhilai; Lilendra Mohature (32), a resident of Keslewada, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh; Tamesh Sahu (23), Rahul Sharma and Bhisham Sahu, all residents of Urla, Raipur and Dular Sahu (22), a resident of Kurkura village of Raipur.

The police said that at about 8 pm on April 19, the victim of loot T V Raju, a resident of Sector-6, Bhilai, the salesman was riding his motorbike to Akashganga Shopping Complex of Supela, Bhilai with the recovery cash Rs 50,000 of mobile phone selling when the accused Kamlesh and Lilendra dashed him with their motorcycle and also attacked him repeatedly with the knife and lathi while inflicting grievous injuries upon him. The accused also looted cash and three mobile phones with a bag from the victim and fled the spot.


After committing the accused fled to Hathkhoj, Bhilai-3 wherein they dumped bank documents of and the bag of the victim in a canal and since then they were absconding.


After their arrest on instances of the accused police recovered cash Rs 9,500 and a mobile phone from their possession and as per their confession they have spent rest of the cash after committing loot. During interrogation in police custody the accused also disclosed in their confession that in December 2015, the accused Kamlesh Dewanga along with Tamesh Sahu, Rahul Sharma, Bhisham Sahu had stolen a motorcycle from a country liquor shop of Dhamtari. The accused also confessed about their involvement in another vehicle lifting reported from the venue of a fair at Akola village of Kumhari in February 2017.


While elaborating on modus operandi of the accused, the police said that as per their confession they used to commit crime on stolen motorcycle to evade their arrest.
In connection with cheating cases, the police nabbed one involved in cheating to the tune of Rs 11 lakh reported at Supela Police Station in Bhilai and Utai Police Station, Durg.


The accused arrested by police was identified as Khemlal Yadav (38), a resident of Balod while his accomplice whose name recorded as Gajendra Sahu is still at large. Police sources informed that on pretext of government job the accused Khemlal Yadav and his accomplice Gajednra Sahu relieved the victim Devnarayan of Utai, Durg of Rs 6 lakhs. The accused duo was also threatening the victim with life when they did not fulfill their promise and the victim demanded for returning the paid cash by him. The accused were also involved in cheating in land deal registered by Supela police in which they had relieved the victim Bairagi Swai of Ramnagar, Supela, Bhilai of Rs 5 lakh.


The police have registered the offence against the accused under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and are further investigating the matter.
