Commuters had to face extreme difficulties in taking reroutes

ALTERNATE routes created by traffic police to divert vehicles from ring road-1 witnessed gridlocks as the Public Works
Department (PWD) continued with installation of the massive span of a flyover across the road on Thursday.

Commuters had to face extreme difficulties in taking reroutes with extra kilometres to drive just to reach their destinations located just on other side of ring road. Moreover, the intense summer heat only piled up the miseries of people.

Stranded in the middle of frying pan like tarmac surface, commuters even caught up in altercations while trying to sneak through any space where their vehicles could fit.
Most people, who suffered into the logjam on first day, avoided the ring road and took diversions.

But, that doesn’t mean they got rid of the problem also as the alternate routes aren’t wide enough to hold traffic load that wider lanes of ring road can. However, situation wasn’t as bad as it was on the first day due to the measures taken by authorities.

Traffic Police Department has placed many signboards and barrier to block motorists from going anywhere near the construction site. Installation work is expected to be finished by May 21. So, till then commuters are advised to take the reroutes created by authorities.
