Staff Reporter,

Anger among nurses in Hamidia Hospital, who had made many complaints to the senior officers of Medical Education Department and even the departmental minister, is not lessened yet. They have refused to record their statements before two-member probe committee comprising Dr R N Sahu, professor and Head of the Department Psychiatrics, and Associate Professor Dr R K Jain, Gastroenterologist.

According to information, after recording statements of Dr Deepak Maravi, Superintendent-cum-Joint Director, Hamidia Hospital, the two-member committee had called all those nurses and leaders of Prantiya Nurses Association who had complained of misbehaving and abusing against Dr Maravi to record their statements. While the nurses have already told senior officers of the Medical Education Department to get the matter probed from independent agency as they do not believe the probe will be free and fair by this two-member committee.

Both probe committee members work under Dr Maravi. How they can do free and fair probe into the matter? When the probe committee called to record statements, all nurses gave in written that they would record their statements before the new probe committee to be set up by the Government as they have already demanded and have assurance from the Government in this regard. However, it is not yet clear when the Government will set up new committee to probe complaints against the Hamidia Hospital Superintendent.

When contacted Manju Meshram, State President, Prantiya Nurses Association, said the probe committee had called nurses to record their statements but refused to record statement before the present probe committee. We have already demanded to have independent agency to probe the matter as we do not believe on present probe committee members. When the new probe committee sets up we will record our statements, she said.
