Heat wave conditions to continue  in entire Vidarbha till May 21

With the city’s maximum temperature touching a sweltering 45.90C on Friday, local office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a three-day heat wave warning across Vidarbha. According to the Weather Department, “The maximum temperature continues to be above

normal by two to three degrees Celsius in Nagpur and the same is likely to be at isolated places in all over Vidarbha for next three days.” Almost all streets in the city wore a deserted look on Friday with the mercury almost touching 460C. There was very less movement of people on roads between 11 am and 4 pm, thanks to the scorching sun. The situation is likely to continue till May 25, according to weathermen.

Cement road construction work and Metro work also raised the temperature of the city and increased traffic problems in this summer. On Friday, Nagpur recorded second highest maximum temperature after Chandrapur (46.2) in the district while Nagpur was on top on highest minimum temperature with 32.00C in Vidarbha. Chandrapur observed 29.40C.

Weather Department informed, “Heat wave conditions are very likely at many places with severe heat wave at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana till May 21.

Wardha was on the third place in the list with 45.50C while the highest minimum temperature was 29.00C. The temperatures of Amravati (43.40C), Akola (44.40C), Gondia (43.70C), Yavatmal (43.00C), Buldhana (40.80C) and Washim (43.00C) also recorded above normal temperatures while the evenings were also hotter than normal.
