108 Ambulance employees’ strike continues to gherao Assembly today

THERE is no let in woes of patients with 108 Ambulance employees’ who have continued their strike. On Tuesday, Health Minister Rustam Singh, had called a meeting with 108 Ambulance employees, National Health Mission officers and Zigitza Health Care Company officers to sort out the issue of 108 Ambulance employees strike. Tuesday was the seventh day of 108 Ambulance employees’ strike.

However, there was a hope of ending the strike after talks with health minister but it could not be happened, the talks were failed. On the other hand, from many parts of the State the deaths of patients, injured in road accidents were received as they could not get ambulance service in time to reach the hospital.

But after about an hour long meeting, there was no consensus of Zigitza Health Care Company on even a single demand of the employees. Besides, continuing strike, the employees have decided to gherao Vidhan Sabha, on Wednesday. The Government has called one-day special session of Vidhan Sabha to pass Goods Service Tax (GST) bill, on May 3. The employees were engaged in preparing gherao strategy on Tuesday.

Employees of 108 Ambulance had talks with Health Minister and they failed as neither the company officers nor the National Health Mission officers tried to explain their problems. It was the reason that the ambulance employees who are getting support from Congress or other places. In last seven days, many ambulance employees fell ill due to scorching heat and were admitted to the hospital for treatment despite they continued their strike and adamant on their demands of fixing working hours from 12 to 8 hours and other facilities.

State General Secretary of 108 Ambulance Employees Association Nitendra Mishra, said that the talks of the Association delegation failed with health minister, on Tuesday. Our strike will be continued. They are not agree even on a single demand of the employees. On Wednesday the employees will gherao Vidhan Sabha, he said.
