Collector asks road dvpt corporation to give momentum to Express-way project

District Collector O P Chaudhary on Wednesday asked the officials of Chhattisgarh Road Development Corporation for commencing work on Four-lane Express-Way at the earliest. It is to be mentioned, the Express-Way will be constructed on narrow-gauge line passing through the city. The district collector stated this in a meeting with the Chhattisgarh Road Development Corporation held at collectorate on Wednesday.


The district collector also asked the officials of the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Electricity Department for shifting of electric polls. RMC commissioner Rajat Bansal, in the meeting, said that the shifting of ‘basti’ (slums) from Parasnagar, Chakranagar, Meera Nagar and Satnamipara have been completed and allotted BSUP houses. Shifting of slums creating hurdles for the Express-way is underway, said the Commissioner.


Notably, a 12.02-km Express-way costing Rs 258.11 crore is being constructed from Fafadih-Telibandha to Kendri village of Naya Raipur to release traffic pressure from other roads in and around the city. Flyovers at Fafadih, Pandri and Shankar Nagar, and Elevator Corridor on Avanti Vihar-Telibandha National Highway will be the part of the Express-way. The road project included 8 small culverts and 12 culverts and light vehicular underpass. Present in the meeting were additional collector S N Rathore and additional district magistrate Doman Singh.
