WCR Zone holds interactive session on GST

AS A part of outreach programme on Goods and Service Tax (GST), an interactive session with officers of West Central Railway Zone was organised by Central Excise Department Jabalpur at WCR, General Manager Office, Jabalpur under guidance of P K Agrawal, Commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Jabalpur on Wednesday.

Agrawal, Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Dr D K Bisen, Deputy Commissioner, Excise & Service Tax, S Mahesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax and Kirti Kumar Joshi, Chartered Accountant were keynote speaker at the programme. Girish Pillai, General Manager, West Central Railway, Jabalpur, Pradeep Kumar, Additional General Manager, WCR, Jabalpur, Naval Shrivastava, Financial Advisor, WCR, Jabalpur also graced the occasion along with other officers of Railway.

Main agenda of the programme was to aware Railway officers about new tax system Goods and Services Tax (GST).
At the outset, Agrawal started with overview of GST and gave brief information on its impact on Railways. He said that GST will bring transparency in tax system and Railways, being one of the biggest taxpayers in the country, will be benefited most by its implementation. In GST tax will collected will be shared between Central and State automatically by the back end network GSTN. He answered all the queries asked by the officers in a very simple manner.

Thereafter, Dr D K Bisen discussed all the technical terms, explaining point of taxation, place of supply, registration, return and payment in GST. Next speaker Kirti Kumar Joshi clearly explained term Input Tax Credit along with its eligibility and exceptions by giving examples of different services. At the end, Naval Shrivastava, Financial Advisor, WCR Zone, Railways, expressed gratitude towards P K Agrawal and other speakers and officers of Central Excise for their knowledge sharing.
