Chandrapur tops Vidarbha in Clean India Mission survey

It was a news that brought clean joy to Chandrapur Municipal Corporation on Thursday. For, under the Swachh Survekshan -2017 (Clean India Mission survey), the CMC has topped entire Vidarbha region.

The efforts of Sanjay Kakde, Commissioner of CMC and his team, bore fruits when the Union Government placed Chandrapur sixth in Maharashtra and 76th in the country in the cleanliness ranking.

The Sanitation Department of Union Ministry of Urban Development had conducted surveys in the country under three phases. The Urban Development Ministry had send a team to Chandrapur to conduct the survey on January 11, 12 and 13 in this year. After thorough survey throughout the country, Union Ministry of Urban Development placed Chandrapur at 76th position in the country, informed Sanjay Kakde while talking to ‘The Hitavada’.

Navi Mumbai won the first position in the State with Pune following at second place, Mumbai at third, Shirdi at fourth, Pimpri-Chinchwada at fifth and Chandrapur at sixth in the State.

Expressing happiness for bringing Chandrapur among the top clean cities, Sanjay Kakde informed that it was for the first time that Chandrapur got a position under Clean India Mission survey report.

In all, 1315 points were given to Chandrapur city which earned it the 76th place in the country, he informed.
