Former corporator Vishakha Maind  killed in mishap

Four of the family, two drivers injured as the  vehicle they were travelling in hit a roadside bridge wall near Sausar in Madhya Pradesh.They were returning after immersing ashes of Vishakha’s brother in river Ganges in Banaras

IN A ghastly mishap, former corporator of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vishakha Baba Maind was killed while her son, mother, sister-in-law and niece were injured seriously when the Toyota Innova car they were travelling in hit a roadside bridge wall near village Belgaon near Sausar in district Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, on early Friday morning.

Vishakha (48), wife of ex-corporator Baba Maind, was declared dead by doctors at Civil Hospital in Sausar. Her son Sharvil (13), mother Sunanda Shende (70), sister-in-law Preeti Shende (42) and niece Aditi Taman (27) were rushed to Care Hospital in Nagpur. Drivers Sanjay Warkhade (26) and Mahesh Parmar were also injured in the mishap.

Vishakha’s brother died a few days ago. The family had gone to Banaras to immerse his ashes in river Ganges. The tragedy occurred when they were returning to the city from Banaras. Around 5.30 am on Friday, one of the tyres of their car burst near village Belgaon.

As the car was at a high speed, the driver lost control of the vehicle that hit side wall of the bridge. The impact was so intense that the front portion of the car was completely mangled. Vishakha, who was sitting next to the driver, suffered serious head injuries. Others sitting on back seats also were injured seriously. All the injured were rushed to Civil Hospital in Sausar. After examining Vishakha, the doctors declared her dead.

BJP legislator (Sausar) Nana Mohod, BJP leader Ajay Dhawle, corporator Darshan Zade, Sanjay Yemde and others also visited the Civil Hospital.  They  immediately arranged ambulances and rushed the injured family members of Vishakha to Care Hospital where they are being treated in Intensive Care Unit. After the post-mortem, Vishakha’s body was brought to the city.

The news about the tragedy spread like jungle fire in city. Hundreds of people, including political leaders, gathered at Vishakha’s Dharampeth residence. The last rites were performed at Ambazari ghat in the evening.
