■ Staff Reporter,

AS SURESH Prabhu walks into Nagpur railway station on Tuesday, he would be proud of himself! Officials have virtually transformed the look of station, which is shining to core, off course on the western side to which Railway Minister visit is going to be limited. Even otherwise visit of Railway Minister visit to Nagpur is once in a blue moon. Last full fledged visit to Nagpur of Railway Minister was that of Nitish Kumar in year 2005.

Thereafter, Dinesh Trivedi visited Nagpur railway station, but it was a fleeting visit as he was passing through after attending a programme at Ballarshah.

So Railway officials have left nothing to chance in decorating the Western end of the Nagpurrailway station.Central Railway and South East Central Railway, the division of both zones are in city, have rolled out red carpet for the Railway Minister as it is a proud moment for them. Suresh Prabhu will lay stone for end-toend foot overbridge which is going to have five lifts to give relief to passengers from climbing the stairs.

Interestingly, Railway officials have shut down the escalator on Western Gate for erection of a huge pandal the waiting area which was converted into no man’s land. Local railway officials are very excitedfor the visit of Railway Minister and directed engineering department to paint everything including railway tracks.Ateam of gangmen was specially deployed for painting of railway tracks at platform no1.

CR have also fitted new tiles. However on other end, especially the Eastern end and beyond platform no. 1, it is business asusual as there is nothing much to write home about.
